Workshop: The Efficient Librarian with Doug Crane

This workshop will present productive strategies for workplace success based in part on an internationally recognized productivity system. Learn powerful methods for managing commitments, information, and communication that are the gold standard for personal and organizational efficiency. Participants will learn:

  • The three sources of knowledge work stress
  • How to get things out of your head and into a trusted system
  • How to organize their actions in an easy four folder format
  • The ways to recognize their priorities both in the short and long terms.

Doug Crane began his career with the Palm Beach County Library System as a children’s librarian in 1998. He then served as the Electronic Resources Coordinator, a Branch Manager, and the Director of Branch Services. He was appointed Library Director in 2014. Under his direction, the System has won awards from the Urban Libraries Council and the Florida Library Association. Doug was named Florida Librarian of the Year in 2021.

This project was funded either under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services or the Library Cooperative Grant program. Florida’s LSTA and LCG programs are administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services. For FY2024, 73% of the total costs for the PLAN Continuing Education program ($223,959) is supported by federal money and 27% of this program ($81,361) is supported by state money. The total budget of the project is $305,320.
