Creating Accessible Content: What All Library Staff Need to Know

What does accessible content mean? What are libraries’ obligations in terms of accessible content? What tools are available to make the things we create – PowerPoint slides, documents, PDFs, video – more accessible content? In this workshop, we will discuss accessibility, ADA compliance, and Section 508 through the lens of creating content.

We’ll explore best practices that not only support good design, but also help make content more accessible. Do you know that Microsoft Office products have built-in tools to help with accessibility? Do you know how to create a PDF so that is full text readable? Participants will leave with a good understanding of the basic requirements for creating accessible content, as well as practical tools to make that happen.
