Inclusive Disaster Planning with Public Librarians at the Table with Marcia Mardis, Faye Jones, and Denise Gomez

April 24 @ 10:00 am 11:00 am CDT

The Stafford Act, passed in 1988 and amended in 2021, designates public libraries as essential disaster response facilities, complementing the Florida Statutes’ recognition that public librarians may be asked to act as emergency responders.

This session will review the state of public libraries’ disaster planning, response, and recovery contributions, then explore, with audience input, effective collaborative public library planning practices that enhance community resiliency.

Session facilitators will actively engage participants in thinking about their own library systems, strategy identification, and inclusive action planning and evaluation for their own localities.

Free
